« on: October 03, 2010, 07:23:41 PM »

We got 1 fish Friday around 9...

Its hit and miss for me, some days I knock em dead, some days they have lockjaw.  This year has been a study in changing up what works for each day I fish.  So far this year I have used 50/50 wicked willies, bronze hammered spoons, eggs under a bobber, drifting eggs with a corky, my homemade heavy vibrax style spinners, chart maribou jigs and chart maribou big eye fly's.  I have caught fish on all of the above this year, but none of them have been consistant day to day as in the past.

You guys fishing the lower Skagit? I grew up between Concrete and Rockport. I know the upper river the best.  :)

I've been fishing upper river, Gilligan Creek Up and the Cascade.  I tried the lower river a few times earlier in the year just to get the boat out but have not figured that lower river out yet.

Upriver should be good in the morning.  This bit of rain we are getting today should help push some fresh fish up.  The barometer is going up as well.  I need to check the flow charts and see if I will need to go above the Sauk or I can save some gas and fish down from there.

I don't normally fish the Skagit, but I thought I'd pass on this little bit of info a friend told me tonight.  He said the nets have been in since Tuesday from Blake's up to Concrete.  If that's the case fishing will be tough.  Good luck to all.

Yea, talked to dad today. He said the river is up a bit and resembles Chocolate milk. The Sauk is dumping tons of silt.

Oh quit yer bitchin!   :chuckle:  I fished the Nooksack in the rain Saturday morning till almost noon where it actually still had a nice green color. By 4pm it was MUDSACK.   Now looks like the Tootle on May 18, 1980!
