Quail and Quiet
« on: October 07, 2010, 09:32:01 PM »
I'm headed out for a day this weekend to try some places between Snohomish and the Tri Cities.  I've driven the highways for the last 30 year and have always wanted to explore some of the hills and basalt but never had the chance.  This Saturday may be my window of opportunity.  I'm taking the 12g, maps, and license.  We'll see what happens without a dog.  I'll post pics and give a report.  Can't wait to walk through some sage and sand.

Wow, that's a lot of territory! Wish I wasn't so busy, I'd love to do the same. Have fun, and good luck!

I got back today from quail quest.  Left at 4:00 am with my 15 year old son to explore some area near Ellensburg that I've always wanted to go take a look at.  We did see quail but not a lot.  No dog but luckily my son still had a success at a bird but I'm going to let him post his own story.  Also saw a yote, a big raptor of some sort, and lots of cactus.  It was a great day with lots of walking and driving bad roads.  I don't think the drizzle helped the bird hunting though.  Still, a bird in the fridge so can't complain about that!

That sounds like a great day. I saw your sons post too, congrats to you both.
