2nd Deer Tags poll
« on: October 09, 2010, 04:12:16 PM »
Who drew 2nd deer tags and who bought them or didn't buy them?
Just curious.
I drew one but am not planning on buying it because I also drew a late buck tag and thats my priority. I don't have time for both.

No buck tag draws for me, but I will be hunting for my second deer on San Juan Island at my cousins place. I guess if my opening weekend does not work out I will be shooting my first and second deer there. 120 acres of private deer sanctuary! Till I get there anyway.

I feel kinda silly not buying the tag because it would likely take about a half hour to fill it but the cost of 5.5 hrs driving 1 way in fuel is not worth it to do it twice in a couple week period.

I bought one for one of the San Juan islands I've hunted for 30 years.  There are too many deer up there as it is.

I normally draw camano or whidbey but I didn't draw this year.  I didn't have any points and with this years new system more people applied.

I drew the Stormking second deer tag.  Doesn't look like I'll have time to use it with our trip to Colorado in a couple weeks and all my school work I need to get done before that. Also read on here that the deer numbers up there are taking a hit so I'm not terribly upset with letting a doe live to give birth for years to come.  :dunno:

If I had a solid connection in the islands to go to I'd put in for them to aid in the population control since I'm close by.  But I haven't really put a lot of effort into that as I've been sorta focused/obsessed on elk.  As such I haven't applied for them without having things in place first.  No real point in my mind to apply for something I won't or don't know if I can use.

I drew for Gardner, 2nd deer...whitetail doe.
been scouting the upper Twisp river valley area, past Little Bridge creek turnoff for a few miles and on public land but yet to see a whitetail doe.

might not purchase the tag after 2 blank scouting trips.

My boy drew a second tag for 204 (whitetail doe only). This goes with his youth permit that he also drew for 204. Turkey buster are you camping over in that area.

Me & my boy drew 2nd der tags for Foster Creek & have purchased them & plan on filling them next weekend.
Just need to figure out if we should try to fill it right away or or focus on the bucks first.

I drew a second deer (doe) for North River unit. I plan to use it. I'll hunt this tag for the first 10 days or so.
It's not where I normally hunt, but is only about a 25-30 minute drive. I'll try to get my nephew (who is hunting for the first time this year) involved so he can see if hunting is a cool as he thinks.
Maybe we can get him a buck while we're at it.
