Polar Bear Fur Flys
« on: March 26, 2008, 12:32:21 PM »
I was able to land some Polar Bear fur a few years ago, who out there makes really nice flys that would make me two for a display case of mine in exchange for the rest of the fur for your own flys.  Don't have a lot of it about a patch of 1" x 4".  I don't tie anything but cheap Russian River type for Reds, alittle chartreuse and some thread wraps is my extent on tying.  Won't use them for fishing so looking for a flashy design.  Same for two from Black bear and Griz.  I got plenty of that type fur in exchange....  Mike

Harry Lemire used to live in Black Diamond.  He was listed in the phone book.  I am not sure if he is still there, but this is off-season.  He is as nice of guy as you would ever want to meet.  You can google him to get some information on his history.  A lot of people know him for hand tying Atlantic Salmon flies, but before that he developed several fly patterns for steelhead.  If you have ever read Trey Combs "Steelhead Fly Fishing", he is featured in there.

If you don't get what you are after, shoot me a note, I can get them tied up for you.  One of my favorite with polarbear is a greenbutt skunk pattern for steelhead.
