high buck hunt
« on: October 09, 2010, 10:32:26 AM »
This was my 2nd time on this hunt, was successful the 1 st time. The weather was rainy and snow had fallen during the night of the first time up there. My partner and I were 12 miles in on horses, woke up to over a foot of snow. Nothing was moving so we headed out after a cold and miserable night. I should mention that on the way in my horse was stung and my saddle broke and I went off landing on my back on top of my gun. So I didn't think it was going to shoot straight. Luck was on my side for on the way out we spotted 4 does and a nice 3 point, my partner said shoot him if u want 2. Well I didn't know if the scope was still on but at about 80 yards I couldn't pass it up. I aimed for the neck and perfect shot went down & didn't even twitch. I love my ziess scope well worth the money. This year the weather was perfect, saw 5 different bucks on the same hillside the evening before. There was 4 of us in camp this year and we joked about all of us tagging on the first morning . Well guess what we were all done within the first 20 minutes. Unbelievable.4 big bucks all over 200 lbs. A lot of work but well worth it. My hunting partners don't think that will ever happen again, but I said not until next year. A lot of scouting to find a place like that in Washington. Awesome. I will post pictures if I can figure it out. Spartans.

You are absolutely torturing us here  :chuckle:  You know we need pics to survive vicariously through others while we continue to search for the elusive brown critters!

if those were all over 200lbs  the bodies must have been huge compared to their head size. good job gett'in done early. looks like someone shot the horn off that one buck.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
