There is PROBABLY A REASON FOR THAT....  :chuckle: :twocents:

I LIKE my .338 in the Winchester 70......I like my .416 Rigby in a CZ-550 Safari too!

Man I love that round but in a 6-7lb rifle it would bite hard. I would get the limbsaver and ported barrel to make it shootable.

.338 + Lightweight  :dunno:   The .338 weatherby vanguard with a synthetic stock is a nice handling rifle and it kicks no more than the .325wsm xbolt which is a small light rifle.

I love my Ruger 338, don't know the weight, don't care. Go hiking and lose a few pounds to make up the difference. :chuckle: :chuckle:

I have a Savage model 16 in a 338 win mag and it is factory at 7 5/8lbs (no scope or rings). Mine is plenty light enough for me, but I was used to hunting with an old 12 or so lb 30-06. So 8 1/2 (with scope) feels great!!!

A guy I hunt with has a Sako that is in the low to mid 6 lb range in a 300 win mag (nice gun!!), so they might make it in a 338 win mag, Not sure.

I agree, 338 win mag is a great caliber/cartidge.

my brother in law uses a featherlite model 70 in .338. I don't know the weight but its a killer to target shoot, however he assures me when you're shooting at an elk no pain is involved!

I have a Sako that weighs in at 6.75 lbs.  I was able to shoot it accurately during load testing from a bench without a recoil pad and without a brake until about round 20.  Than I was flinching.  Added a limbsaver recoil pad and it is not bad at all, especially in hunting situations.  I am not a fan of a brake on any hunting rifle.
