Elk Heights
« on: October 12, 2010, 09:39:27 AM »
How are the deer and elk numbers looking so far this year. Thinking about making a weekend trip over there the second weekend of modern season. I know it will be a long shot. But have the numbers improved at all this year. Seems like the area has been hit pretty hard over the last 10 years.

Don't know about the deer numbers just know it is pretty well patrolled so make sure to stay on the the green dot roads with your rig to prevent a ticket, also seems like more is getting posted up there.

Deer numbers seem to be way down still, elk are doing fine.

I've had 2 trail cams not far from that area since mid may,  1000  photos + -   4... doe pics   the rest are elk for the most part and some  bear- coyote.

I think some deer move lower with the weather ??   but it's not any thing like it use to be   my :twocents:

This area was one of the hardest hit with the deer hair loss.  You can read the 2009 status report for region 3 and get some data.
