GOOD WEATHER FOR THE OPENER!!!
« on: October 12, 2010, 04:51:09 PM »
I just pulled up the 7 day forecast from NOAA. Looks to be good weather for the eastern half of the state with the highs ranging from 55-62 during the day, and the overnight lows 35-42, mostly clear with passing cumulus clouds!

With that being said,(1) does anyone change their "plan of attack" when its going to be this mild??
(2) What years had "real bad" weather on the opener??

One opener sticks out like no other, the weather was brutal, and the action was intense! I have begged for a big, cold, nasty front to come in for years, since 98'! Thats the year of my best buck to date! 5x6nt,26wd,187gross.

What a hunt!

Hunting is tough, its even tougher when your stupid!!

i remember my Uncle geting snowed in over in eastern wa around that time, they were lifted out by the forest service and had to leave their trailer and everything behind until the thaw.
Really sucked, but atleast back then thieves were unheard of in a camp.

Generally we found with the clear nights, the deer are gonna stay up late, watch Letterman :chuckle:, and eat.
they will move real early and quick.
Gonna do a lot of hiking.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

Last yeasr fog screwed us out of a nice 4 point mulie  :bash:

Heard him slip and fall while crossing the old skidder road. Heard him rake his antlers on a old dead log. Heard him scrape the ground and snort at me and Rocky, but never saw him. He was with 30 yards, could hear him walk but with no visabilaty, we were dead in teh water.

After the fog lifted (about 11am) a guy on the ridge above us saw him standing right where we were parked earlier and droped him  :bash:
(talked with a hunting partner of the guy teh next day)
Congrats to the lucky hunter, but bad for our freezer  :'(

Last year we had rain all day over by Naches. Saw about 15 deer the entire weekend. I also have been dreaming of it being snowy on opening weekend for years

This will be the best opening day for whitetails here by spokane in years.  Usually its hot, dry, and not good at all.  At least this year we have had a decent amount of rain to hopefully keep the woods more quiet and it will be 10 -15 degrees cooler i can't wait to be in the stand with my 8yr old son and hopefully take a nice buck

Yeah definetly better than being at work!  I'm still praying for a front to move in though.  The nastier the weather the better!

Only Bucks i seen in ten days besides a few dead ones were in farmers fields AT NIGHT.
Except a 2x1 spike.

I gave up on hunting, i got sore from hiking with all my gear, Hiking and walking around seeing new things was pretty fun though. I just gave up on deer within the first few times out, Moon was like a friggin flood light the whole time we were in Teanaway. :bash:
