I got the same mailing. (life member of the NRA.)  Does anybody know if he hunts or owns any guns, or just goes along with the party line?  Doesn't really matter, but am just curious.  I see him holding a rifle like I see Michael Dukakis driving a tank.

I sent the Dino Campaine a note asking if he hunted or fished this was the responce i got.

Hello Special T,

Dino has the endorsement of the National Rifle Association, I’ve attached the statement they released; and the Recreational Fishing Alliance.  He will protect our 2nd Amendment rights (I’m not sure how much hunting he has done) and he enjoys fishing.  Specifically, regarding fishing, Dino will keep an eye on NOAA and make sure they are using accurate science to manage our fisheries. He will work with congress to reform the federal fisheries law so it is driven by accurate science and timelines that insures sound sustainable, accessible and well managed fisheries for his constituents and he will continue to support hatcheries for salmon.  He will support candidates to the federal fishery management councils who have a real stake in both recreational and commercial industries because of the importance of the fishing industry, both recreational and commercial to our State.

If I can answer any questions, please feel free to contact me. Have a good week and get everyone out to vote.  Working together, we can start to put our nation back on the right track.

NRA Endorsement

Fairfax, Va.-- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Dino Rossi for election to the U.S. Senate in Washington this November.

“Dino Rossi is the gun owners’ and hunters’ choice in this race,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “He is a solid defender of the Second Amendment who will stand up for the rights of gun owners in Washington and across the United States, earning him the NRA-PVF endorsement.”

During his time as a Washington State Senator, Dino Rossi supported pro-gun efforts and was always “A” rated by NRA-PVF. Rossi supports national right-to-carry reciprocity and efforts to reform the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He also opposes reenacting the failed Clinton gun and magazine ban and believes sportsmen should have access to federally-owned or administered lands for hunting, fishing, trapping and recreational shooting.

Dino Rossi’s commitment to preserving the Second Amendment has earned him an “A” rating and the endorsement of NRA-PVF.

“Dino Rossi will be a strong voice in fighting ongoing efforts by anti-gun politicians to dismantle the Second Amendment,” Cox concluded. “We ask all Washington gun-owners and hunters to vote Dino Rossi for U.S. Senate on November 2nd.”

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.

I am continually amazed by the complaints Americans have about Politicians, yet when someone comes along that does not fit the mold, we pick them apart.  Bernie Madoff was very likeable and was very successful, long before he began stealing clients money.  I've also read articles that describe politicians as Psychopaths.  Con Artists are usually likeable and affable.   I found Slade Gorton to be pleasant, but a little uncomfortable at times.  I would rather have a nerd in office as long as he was logical and had a backbone.  At times Dino sounds a bit canned, but the fact is, the message is not heard or remembered by everyone at the same time.  You don't have the luxury of covering a whole bunch of issues.  Who has not disappointed the voters eventually with a particular vote or position that was not on the front page during the campaign?   I'll tell you a lot of folks won't expand their business when they are both going to be punished for making too much money in the eyes of the poor, or they cannot depend on the policies they have been living by for so long.  Its tough enough in Washington.  The corruption in voting in King County is next to impossible.  They love a close race and they just keep finding more ballots and counting bad ones until they declare victory.   Does honesty only count for one party anymore?

Its easy to take the NRA for granted since they have so many members.   Control of the Senate often dictates a lot more than the right to bear arms.   If we want any chance of rolling back some of the spending we must have at least 51 votes.  Even then thats not a guarantee based on history.  There has been more than one cry baby who decides to become an independent and throw the control of the senate into the hands of the other party.   Judges, treaties, cap and trade, Marine Protection areas, drilling and many other issues that could affect the ability of the economy to rebound and grow, which depends on who controls the senate.  They may get NOTHING done with an idealogue in the WH.  Many have debated whether he is capable of moving toward the center.

Last month, the Clinton Global initiative aired on CNBC.  During the conference, Clinton acknowledge several things.   One, he was handed a booming technology business that helped create a lot of jobs.   When the tech bubble occurred, the next president had to rely on housing to keep the economy moving.  It was kinky from the beginning, but not many could connect the dots.   Obviously it was a lot tougher after 9-11.   Lastly, he said that for our economy to continue to grow, we need a new industry every 5-8 years.   Govt spending is not going to create jobs, without running up a lot of debt.  It didnt work for FDR and they had a fraction of the population and a fraction of the economy.   Anyone who think that rich people can be bullied are sadly misinformed.   China and other countries continue to create profits for the corporations and those jobs will move where, its great to do business.  The stock market will do well, but its going to be the emerging middle and upper class in other nations.  Great if you are retired and live off of dividends.   We wont be able to afford a first class military, if we dont have a good industry, jobs and tax base.   The fact is, the Boeing thing was greed, because Tom Daschle wife was the lobbyist for Boeing and along the way, they decided to lease the tankers to the govt, which would have bilked the taxpayers of millions of dollars.   McCain suggested the bidding and Im sure Murray would like to connect Dino with Airbus.  In the meantime, it looks like the union strikes have made South Carolina a more appealing place to build the 787 and the other democrat who got a job promotion was primarily responsible for Boeing moving their offices out of state.  Thanks Gary Locke.  Always the smooth tongue.   Now he is doing his best to put Commercial fishermen back in charge of overharvest on the ocean.
