No let me rephrase it. If you have all the equipment and bait and lure and permission to trap what are the 2 most inporten things in catching lots of animals?

???  Understanding your targeted animals tendencies and checking your traps in a timely manner to ensure there is no suffering ???

Know the laws, the terrain, and if other hunters are in the area. Sorry that is 3 but it is what came to mind.

Location and scent control are my top 2.  Next for me would be eye appeal.

Location is number one, It won't matter how many traps you set if your not on location where the animal will come you could have everything perfect and not catch many. Nuber 2 is very import also because without it you can not catch many.

I'll disagree a little with you.LOL Population, yea number 1. Number 2 though hard work. Trappers that put up big numbers are hard workers and put in long hours. Through the 90s I hit it hard and put up some good numbers. A typical day started at daylight and ended at 1:00 to 3:00 in the morning. Location is a close third.

Yep, lots of hard work, but lots of fun, love hearing the chain rattle in the dark.  :)

Yes it takes alot of hard work but without a good population how can you put up big numbers. If you only had 10 coyotes in a 10 mile square the most you could catch would be 10 but if there was 50 coyotes then you could get alot more. Thats the problem with alot of trappers as they do everything correct but only catch a few animals because there just insn't the population of animals for them to catch big numbers. Trapping is very hard work.
