Your Opinion
« on: October 19, 2010, 02:32:08 PM »
I am in the market for some new lightweight chest waders and I was wondering if you guys had your favorites that you recommend? I'm not too worried about price, I just want some that are really tough and won't make me sweat everytime I stand up to take a piss.
Thanks for the help

Get some of the breathable fishing waders with the zip up front.

These Hodgman breathables are really nice. I have the ones w/o the zipper and really like them. I was worried that the zipper would fail after a while, but if you want a zipper, then I would go for these

I don't have any lightweight waders but I do have the Cabelas Supermags and they are great.. I know they make a Lightmag that is 800 gram thinsulate in the boot instead of 1600 and only 3.5mm neoprene instead of the 5mm on the Supermags. I have heard good things about the waders Drake came out with last year I think they have an EST, MST, LST, standing for Early, Mid, and Late Season Technology.

There is the link to the Drake gear, and by the looks of the price (especially the EST's) they might be made of gold...  :yike:

I  would go to Cabelas and try on a few. I like to get some with extra room in the tummy so I can tuck my jacket inside my waders to keep things (ammo) dry if I need to go into deeper water for some reason. I stay warmer doing this as well!

Check out macks prairie wings  mackspw.com They have some awesome "all-season" breathable waders. Unlike most breathable waders they have 1000 gram in the boot. I just got a pair last week after returning a pair of Cabelas breathable and the quality is twice as good. Plus they are giving away $25 gift cards with them now.

I have a set of breathable waders from Cabela's.  They have worked out well.  I also have a non-camo pair of Sims ones.  Great waders.

The drake waders are worth the money, they are the only waders that have lasted me more then one season.
