opening morning 3 miles deep in a roadless area.....
« on: October 18, 2010, 05:23:22 PM »
I hiked into my old reliable honey hole up in sherman again, every step higher then the last for 3 hours and set up our tipi and made camp. as we froze are arses off in wait for the opening morning light, I hear the familiar and unwelcome sound of a quad. I check my blood pressure with a hydraulic pressure guage and made a bee line for the ridge that some fatsack was riding up......a strong 2 miles as the crow flies into the roadless area. I layed in wait in the trees as the quad clawed its way up the virgin ridge. as the lazy shat bag approached I played mental coin toss between using him as a pinata or keeping it civil.....for some reason, likely the new baby, civility won. I jumped in front of the loser as he was climbing a steep section of hill and screamed at him to stop......dude crapped his drawers on the spot. he defensivly asks me what the hell is wrong with me and I explain to him that he is well into a closed area and he better turn and burn. he tries to go around me......now I am getting hot!  I stop him and get the rig shut down. he tells me I do not own the mountain and I agree. I told him that I would be happy to let him proceed as soon as I grab a pic of his tag and vin number......dude covers his stuff in a flash! I tell him to turn the quad around and leave it on the private land or to the forest service I go with pics and gps quards.......suddenly he does not want to argue. he leaves screaming some un repeatables.

I made a call to F&G and reported my findings as well as the FS. on my way out I ran into a horse packer who has grazing rights on the land in question and was informed that there was an inquiry by a FS special investigator over the trails that had been beat down into the land in question.....awesome I said, I have some intel you will want I told her. I passed on what I had and my contact info. as it turns out it is a neighboring land leaer, and a huge group of his cronies who were trying to make the public land their own.times are gonna be rough for these gys. I am not sure what the penalty is but have heard it could be as severe as confiscation.....I hope so the arrogant fools.

on a side note, we did not shoot any bucks but did see 5 shooters, but nothing worth hauling out of the backcountry ala backpack. saw a cougar and several elk too.

Good on you! What a jerk!  >:( >:( >:(

I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

I live in Ferry County and the forest circus hates 4 wheelers. We only have 3-4 real shiddy areas to ride and one is near my house.
I know where you're talking about and that area is a no, no. We have a new forest circus cop up here. The game dept. won't do anything to the 4 wheelers except write a ticket for no ORV license and no helmet. The game warden told me we can ride anyplace we want as long as you have those 2 requirements. Forest circus........... noway. I hate them greenies. :twocents:
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

might as well go hang a note on the  gate that lets he and the neighbor know the easement agreement they signed with each other just made a big mess for all of them, the line is the line, if I have to hike it and you have to hike it.....so does he and his cronies. the gal from the FS sounds like a go getter.

That happened to me as well.  I was parked at Conrad Meadows up in the Rimrock GMU.  You have to hike a mile passed the gate before you can hunt because a cattle rancher owns the property.  There is an old jeep trail that heads to the top of a mountain. Shortly after this road begins it enters the Goat Peaks Wilderness Area.  So I'm about 3 miles in while its pitch dark and I hear this quad go tearing by my.  I'm thinking F@#K NO!  So I follow the quad.  About an hour later I get to the top where this Quad is parked.  And I hear a blue read Primos Bugle and a hoochie mamma.  30yds from the quad was this fat D-bag and his son.  So I approach him and the guy starts complaining about how he's seen too many people that have driven all the elk out.  I explain its probably because of his quad. Which he REPLIES!!!!  "Nope, these quads don't bother the elk AT ALL"!!!!!

WHAT A MORON!!!!  So I proceed to tell him he's not supposed to be there with his quad.  Which he then informs me he has a key to the gate. At this point I've kept it civil because his son was there.  But at this point I lost it.  I not so politely explained to him that he was in a WILDERNESS AREA and nobody was allowed there and I started to pull my camera out.  At which point he threw his son on the quad and skedaddled.  Of course nothing happened to the guy.

I got burned last year as well by the WDFW.  I took a pic of another fat D-bag in the process of driving over a tank trap.  Since the WDFW and the FS wont do anything I am in 100% support of Mountain Tune Ups :chuckle:  God I hate quads with all my heart!!!

The forest circus gal is a newbie here if I think I know which one. She came form Leavenworth. She says she has more trouble with the locals than with anybody else. But, if the guys have cows up there on thier leased land......and they're on 4 wheelers, I don't think anybody could do much except be pissed off.  :twocents:

Isn't it hard to stay civil when you run into a sh#t bag like that. I worry that someday my dad is going to use one of those A holes riding his quad in a closed off area as a target for his .300 win mag. S.S.S. atleast they dont have collars like wolves, so it will be harder to find them.
WDWF needs to get a clue before it's to late!!!
