vail or skate creek..?

well hoping to help a buddy.. first year hunting.. i mainly hunt elk but he wanted to do deer .... its a toss up this weekend .. i use to have luck off skate creek .. never hunted vail sound like a zoo but im more than willing to hike get away from the crowds... any ideas or tips..? Thanks....
