Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation?
« on: November 03, 2010, 01:32:48 PM »
I was just wandering how much support the RMEF gets from people on this site.  I am also curious as to if anyone knows how much of each dollar is spent actually helping elk habitat.  I am asking these questions not to bash the RMEF but out of my own ignorance since I am starting to question my own support.  I have supported for the last 7 years or so, and now after a recent elk reintroduction decision in Missouri backed by the RMEF (even though a majority of surrounding landowners objected to it) I think it is time I draw the line.  Any suggestions, inputs, theories?  All are welcome!

Its all about the amount of money that state can make by selling quality hunts for that animal. Right or wrong they will do what they want. Fishing and hunting licenses are a HUGE cash cow for states! Its instant liquid capital to fund *censored* projects and the rest is dumped into the general fund! I have told people for years, the state does not want you getting *censored* when your hunting or fishing, they hope you get skunked!! Each big game animal has a monetary value assessed by the state, that's why tags cost what they cost. You purchase the right to kill one of the states animals for a price, if you get nothing they still keep your money! The more we don't get the more profit they make. I will be willing to bet the RMEF got a donation from the state in return for live transplant elk and manage the heard. So the state takes your money, they tell you what kind, and where, and what time, and what side to hunt on. I bet they make us hunt blindfolded in a few years! :twocents:
Hunting is tough, its even tougher when your stupid!!
