Found a dead bull

Driving home from work today looked over and there was a dead 5x4 100 yards off the road called the game dept land owner was picking it up with a tractor when i left someone is gonna have a sick felling in there stomach tonight

how long was it in between seeing it laying and seeing it being picked up? is it possible that it had just been shot the first time and the land owner was recovering it for the hunter, or that he was the hunter? hopefully this could be the case, i would hate to see a good bull wasted. its seems hard to believe that it wouldn't have been recovered if it was in open view, unless it was poached.

I went and checked it out with the GW and the land owner is had been shot last night land owner knew nothing about it
