I put in for Montana this year ( unit 481 ). I hunted there in 2005 and got a nice antelope. I have one bonus point so looking at different sites I should have 75% to 85% draw odds.

After this year I will have 6 points on Colorado and 3 points in Wyoming.

In 11 years as a Wyoming resident, I shot around 25 or so.  A few nice bucks, nothing huge, and a lot of does.  Antelope hunting is what you make it, it can be the lowest class, high visibility black-eye for hunting (high speed vehicle chases, hurried long distance shots at running animals, legs and jaws blown off); or an incredibly fun hunt.

I strongly recommend hiking into a vehicle-inaccessible area (foothills are GREAT) and stalking on foot.  It's best after the season has been open a couple of days.  In foothills or other varied topography, it is not impossible to stalk with archery - I've had shots at 22 and 28 yards doing that.  All the meat, cape and head of a mature buck is about 40-45 lbs, easily doable with a daypack.  I've only bought one tag since becoming an NR in 2001.  I think everyone should experience it.

BTW wackmaster - the prairie maggots are the domestic sheep, not the pronghorn.  Did your first big game animal have a dirty white wooly coat?  Well, better that than your first .. other experience!   :o!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

 :o not sayin a word

I decided to hold of on Antelope in Montana this year though I have a good invite.  Too much focus on elk this year and other things in Montana.  I did put in for Oregon and Nevada.  We'll see.

Craig,
I put in for 480 first choice and 481 second. That where we will be deer hunting. 480 has 93% draw odd. It's good to hear you had some success. I'll look into the block management in August.

I had a huge addiction in the late '80's through the mid-late '90's.  Took 5 bucks and 6-7 does back then on 5 hunts.  A couple real dandy's too.  We hunt unit 705 in Montana.  Plenty of public land and block management areas.  I finally got around to putting in again this year after we drew our deer tags.  Don't be afraid to hunt them later in the season.  My best buck was taken near the end of the season in '98.  Makes for a good combo hunt for deer-antelope.  Antelope doe tags are now OTC in the 700 units and you can buy 2.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
