Mule deer rut question...
« on: November 10, 2010, 02:01:45 AM »
I drew a mission mz tag, it opens on the 25th (thanksgiving...) should I expect much rut activity from the big boys at that time?  It seems like they shoukld be going crazy, but I have not paid much attention to the mule deer rut.  thoughts?

A lot of Mule deer in the rut right now. I'd still like to have that tag though. I would think you will be at the tail end of it. Catch them while their resting.  :chuckle:

They will be moving a lot, looking for uncovered does.  The second rut will just about be starting.

Even if the rut is winding down a bit.....the bucks will be feeding like crazy.....so like Bone said, they will be moving a lot! Don't worry, you will see tons of deer!

Just returned from Montana. The whitetail bucks we saw were all chasing does and seemed to be active in the rut. Wt's this far north seem to start the first week of November and peak the second week.

The mule deer bucks were hanging around in the  general vicinity of does but did not appear to actively in the rut. Usually starts in WA around the 15 of Nov until the end of the month. You should do well.
God luck

Rut is really weird this year.   Its almost winding down in the NE corner.   There is a high buck to doe ratio compared to the Valley.  I bet most does got bred the first go around. It started early and hit with a vengeance.    In the valley it just seems to have started with earnhest yet today I saw both bucks and does with little interest in breeding.  LOTS of uncovered does in the valley.   Not a very goot buck to doe ratio there.
