new member intro

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to take a few minutes and introduce myself. Have been lurking for a few weeks here and have been impressed with the civility and banter among everyone. Seems like lots of friendly, volunteered info to help anyone who asks.
I recently moved from the Tri-Cities to Poulsbo. Hunted the Columbia and Snake rivers over there and know waterfowling will be a challenge on this side of the state for me. Have hunted waterfowl since the mid '70's and not only carve my own decoys, but have built 2 canoes and my own version of a 13 foot sneak boat. Used the sb. in January around Pasco and Richland and it proved more efficieant than I could have imagined.
I have no preference as to divers vs puddle ducks, but do love seeing cans and redheads power dive into the spread. Have a fondness for GE's.
Another interest, which I'll post in the appropriate column in the next day or so is bowhunting. I haven't been able to do that since the mid 1990's due to surgery on both shoulders, but have been pulling my 45lb recurve, testing the shoulders and am pleasantly pleased that they are holding up. Looking forward to chasing the deer, elk, and bear west of Hood Canal next season.
So, with all that said, please feel free to ask away about anything I may be able to help you with. Heck, I could use pointers for over here also.

Thanks for the welcome here guys. I'd be more than happy to post up some pics, however, the camera seems to be hiding after the move and this new laptop had to get cleaned out not long ago. Sooo.
If anyone was at the state DU conv. in Moses lake several years ago I'm the guy that won 1st and 3rd with brant decoys. Have had some dekes raise money at the nat'l banquet also. It's what i can do best to help the cause.
This is a hard addiction to resist. That is what got me to carving. Back when our limit was 3 mallards and an odd bird, we were getting limits in 30 minutes so routinely in the lower basin it could get really boring. Then suddenly the season was over. Lots of guys I knew were bringing in well over 100 birds a season back then, and legal limits. Thus started carving at the kitchen table and another addiction was joined. I'm doing a rig of greenwings now, after that I hope to add to my diver rig with either more cans, GE's or some buffies.
The group goose hunt could prove to be a lot of fun. I work on weekends so that probably will exclude me. But who knows?
There were some posts recently about some of the lakes over here for hunting. Does anyone hunt near Teal or Tarboo lake? Some of those lakes near the salt may be good on a hard blow at the coast I'd think.

Welcome aboard carver! I'm also a new member of the last week or two. I've been posting and frankly have become addicted to the site since (lots of great info and great people), but didn't think to add an intro until I read yours. That being said ...
A little about myself...
I've been hunting since i was 10 years old (26 now). my dad and i have gone to Wyoming for a mule deer hunt just about every year since the addiction started, but living in WA i developed a serious passion for waterfowl and birds in general and have been trying to master the craft (i have a long ways to go). the addiction doesn't stop there, I'm a sportsman year around. whether it be salmon fishing the river, fly fishing small streams for native trout, bass fishing our city lakes, walking gravel roads in search of grouse, chasing chukar through the canyons, and of course trying to fill the freezer with deer and elk. I'm interested in other game as well but haven't been introduced just yet.
The last 7 years i haven't been able to put in the time hunting as i would have liked to because I was traveling the states playing baseball (sometimes year around). I had a career ending injury in spring training 2010 which gives me an opportunity to spend much more time afield (I'm also still around baseball as i am now a coach and full time instructor). I'm in a transition period of my life and know that the outdoors is going to be a major staple in my future. I'm ready to take my passion to the next level and am thrilled to have stumbled across this awesome forum. i look forward to learning from and possibly getting to know some great people who share the same passion as me. Thanks for having me!
Andy

Welcome to the site guys! Great place and lots of good info on here.
Carver - I'm essentially your neighbor. Moved from the Oly Pen over by Sequim to Bainbridge Island a couple months back (still fairly new to Washington though). Used to be heavy into duck hunting till my dog got sick and died, then gave it up. Also into archery and big game hunting.
Outdoor Beast - welcome. I have a couple real good friends who were "Ballers" into the minors and farm teams, etc, left the game due to injuries and to pursue normal life. Its all good, now you get to have fun in the great outdoors.
