anybody been seeing any whitetails?
« on: November 12, 2010, 05:10:15 PM »
Because I haven't been haha. I'm up in colville for the late hunt any have seen 1 doe in 1 and a half days hunting. Don't want to sound like a *censored* but where are the deer? I have hit multple areas like the little pend orielle, sand canyon, mayjor road, ect. :avent found much fresh sign either, and no I haven't been sitting in the truck the whole time either lol. Just find it odd that there is hardly any sign around the farmland/forest service land areas. What have you guys been seeing?

A friend of mines son shot a nice one up Flat Creek 2 days ago. I asked him if it was in rut yet. He said the neck was so swollen, he couldn't see how the deer could turn it's neck. It was a nice big one, I saw it first hand.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Ended up seeing about 25 deer this weekend. Friday and thursday must have been fluke days. Only saw 1 buck for sure and he gave us the slip when we were walking along the edge of some private property. There were a few unidentified deer also. Only saw 4 hanging in the Little Pend Orielle Refuge. Not much shooting going on either.

The deer are starting to run around on my place now...   had a young adult shoot a 4x5 yesterday in my lower field...  he was behind 3 doe's and a yearling...  neck was'nt all that big...   but his hind gland's were as smelly as they come

LOL...  Hell no...  I lived in Texas for just over a year... pissed me off so bad cuse I could'nt afford a hunting lease, since there ain't much in the way of public land to hunt on. Being raised here in the North west and alway's either hunted my familys land or on ton's of state/federal land... I just could'nt bring myself to pay for hunting...   sure the lands mine, but the animals ar'nt...  I do try and manage them the best I can though. Over the years I've had my standard hunters here every year, so I can't ever really promice anyone they can hunt here. If I have an open spot during the season, then I have no problem letting new hunters in. I have closed off the season here once during the late season, but only because the hunters had taken so many bucks off that year, and I needed to save a few. I have no problem with the outfitter's, cus they are doing hunter a favor, that can afford thier service's, and maybe never have time to do the necisary scouting, or just want a good hunt with a higer percentage of bagging a animal. Trust me...  if I could ever afford a 10 day 2 week horse back into a base elk camp, I be there in a flash. But for just the everyday regular dee/bear/yote/turkey hunt...  all I ever really ask for is a picture of the hunters big smile

Great attitude. I spent time in Texas and it was really wierd with little or no public land

Good on you

I like your style.  Just wish there were more landowners like you

Saw 4 bucks and two does this weekend. I passed up a 135 inch 5x5 which was fairly easy considering the 170-180 class buck that is roaming my area. If he had about 15 inches more on him then I don't think I could have resisted.
