Big Black tail
« on: November 16, 2010, 04:19:20 PM »
Hello everyone,

I am new to the site but I have been lurking for a long time now and figured it was my turn to post something up.  So here goes  I was out on the ship because I am in the Navy and my buddy was giving me scouting reports from whidbey, well turns out that he has a couple of shooters and has missed on a couple occasions.  So I get home and he is ready to go and tells me the blind to go to and so I do and I have a few does and small bucks feeding in front of me and the last 10 min of legal light the 2 big boys come in front of my buddy but would only give a facing shot and with a bow that is a tough shot to make.   So second night I am home he wants my stand because he thinks that they will come out there so as the day winds down there is does and small bucks in front of him and nothing in front of me and 10 mins of shooting light left I look out my blind and there is a shooter at 20 yards so I draw and tell myself 20 yards not the planned 40.

Well I get set up put the pin on him and release the next thing was a crap wrong pin but he don't know what has happened, so I get another arrow out and get it on the string as the buck is looking rite at me and is walking around me at about 12 yards with head down low so I don't know if he has a death with and wants to fight so I figured now or never and stood and drew and he took off so I look back at 50 yards and this guy is standing there looking at the 2 of us so I let it fly and see the arrow bury with only a couple mins to spare.  He went about 35 yards and piled up, straight on shot right through the lungs and came out the hind leg.  by the time we got him in the truck the pictures were crap so here is the ones in the light.  I will post up elk pictures that we got on the west side general.  By the way this is a super late post got him Sept 10th.

Congrats, very cool looking buck!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
