shed dogs?

what's the best way to train a dog to find sheds? I find a few here and there but I'd really like to up my numbers this next spring. I was reading on here that a few of you guys are using dogs. Any tips on that or anything?

I forgot the guys name but there is a guy in Northern Idaho that trains them. It will cost you but it will be done right.

As far as doing it yourself.  :dunno: Get them use to the smell of a fresh brown shed. Make it their favorite treat.

 :yeah:   Use gloves to keep the human scent off of the shed. Carry treats for when he/she finds one. Play fetch with a shed with its scent and then put it away. Never let the dog chew on it or use it as a chew toy.

My dog is an awsome shed dog and it was easy training him! He found quite a few this and next year he will probably be finding more than me. The number 1 key for me was making sure that you dont leave any of your scent on the antler. Brown sheds have a lot more scent than chalk or hard white but in time yur dog will bring em all back. Mojo sometimes also brings back old leg bones or ribs, but I dont care. He brings back the sheds and finds the 1's I miss

My dog, vizsla, finds really fresh sheds. The ones with a little blood still on the pedicles.
