Rving in freezing weather during late elk

I was wondering what some of you RVers do when camping for late season elk and it is as cold as it is right now.  Do you haul water or do you have a special way to hook up to running water?  I will be staying at an RV park with full hookups.  Do you put heat tape on your hose? Any help would be great.  Thanks.

Since you're in a full hookup park, I just leave the water dripping all the time and leave the trailer with heat on at all times. I have one of those oil filled radiator types. That way you won't blow a fuse from the electric fan type drawing too many amps. The only problem you might have is the water coming into the trailer will freeze unless you wrap the hose and have heat tape on it. You won't need to fill your water tank because you'll be using the water from the RV park. Hope some of this helps.

Is there a special kind to use on vinyl hose?  Should I use heat tape and use the foam wrap?  Thanks.

If your hooked up to water and you let the water drip through the RV system you dont need anything to wrap the hoses with. Also if the heater is on in the RV you will never have to worry about anything freezing up.

Pour some r.v. antifreeze in the grey and black water tanks. If your fresh water tank is located inside the r.v., then just fill it when u need to. The inside heat will keep it from freezing

Thanks.  I have a Montana 5W.  I think it is pretty much heated.  I could probably just keep the Fresh Water tank filled and use the pump for water.

Before you even hit the road from home have your RV already warmed up inside.
I usued to plug mine in and heat it up 24 hours before heading up into the hills.
That way everything inside it was already heat soaked and much more comfortable when you get to your destination.

When we were dry camping in Montana in an Elkhorn camper 10 yrs ago, it got down to -15F for a week.  I couldn't believe how cold it was.  We had to keep the furnace on constantly, and we also put cardboard cutouts in the windows to help with insulation and conserve some of the propane we were using rapidly.  We also had prepared for this situation, and had re-plumbed the hoses so they were not on the ground, but up some, so we could direct heat around them easier.  We did have some freezing probs with the blackwater tank and grey water, but luckily didn't fill those up during the week.  It was so cold, I stepped outside with a coke in my hand, and it freezed to where I couldn't drink any, in about a minute....

Hunted in the Townsend area for deer and elk about 10 years ago camping in a tent. It got -30 for several days but the bad part was the wind blowing. The drier weather made the - degree weather bearable.
