elk around Saint Regis, Montana
« on: November 23, 2010, 12:45:16 PM »
I am heading out tomorrow for a deer hunt around Saint Regis Montana. I was wondering if anybody knew if there were elk around there? The reason that I ask is that my old man is going with me and he still has an elk tag. I know the unit is "open" for elk but I was just wondering if it is even worth him bringing or carrying his rifle when we are out and about?

I have a boat-load of family around St. Regis, Plains, and Paradise.

Here are pics of my Cousin and Uncle with thier bulls from this season. They'd kill me if I gave out their honey hole so I'll refrain (besides, I may be heading out there to hunt with them next season).

However, there are elk around there. These two have great success year in and year out but have lived out there for most of thier lives. In fact, my Uncle used to own Quinn's resort between St. Regis and Paradise. Sure wish they still owned it too...always had a blast staying there.

I totally hear that. We were saying the same thing! I know as soon as we just have my deer tag in my pocket and not his elk tag, we will get into the elk. It never fails!

Good luck over there. Hunted the Noxon, Trout creek area a few times. Have some friends that live over there and they have shot some dandy elk and decent whitetails.

Thanks guys. I will be bringing my computer and will be logging in each night so I will keep you guys posted. It would be pretty amazing if we could come home with a deer and and elk. My truck needs some meat in the bed!  ;)
