First Banded Bird
« on: November 27, 2010, 02:48:15 PM »
Well boys, after duck hunting for over 8 years, I have finally become a man... Today on this very date 11-27-2010, I shot a banded hen Wigeon. It was the first duck to come into the decoys and it was the ducks last mistake.. Shot alot of other ducks and missed a bunch too, but I only cared about the banded bird... lol..

Maybe it's the picture, but it almost looks like a young drake.  Congrats on the bird.

I thought for sure it was just a hen... We shot one mature Drake and then several what I thought were hens.. I believe we shot 5 more that looked exactly like that. I guess I will know for sure when they send me the results in about four weeks.. Thanks guys, like I said, its been eight years of killing ducks and this is my first band.. The duck season has been pretty slow up here, so Im hoping to travel down to Pot Holes or Pasco here in the next couple weeks..
