Silly dog tricks
« on: November 30, 2010, 01:13:02 PM »
Whats your dogs do that is different.

I just trained my choc. lab to give me five (one paw) if I put out my right hand and to give me 10 (both paws) if I put out my left hand. Smart little turd.

I had a black lab growing up that I trained when I was a teenager. Her best trick was I would point at her and say "what do bad girls do?"  She would roll over on her back put all four feet in the air and wiggle like she was scratching her back.  Best trick ever. That one took me about 4 months to get her to master.   Leave it up to a teenager to teach a dog tricks ha LOL.

I had a friend that had a australian shepherd that could do about 50 tricks. It would retrieve the paper, get his shoes. Even open the fridge and get a beer for him. SMART DOG. One of the smartest breeds I've heard of too.

my Gordon setter was a stubborn pup. I tried teaching him to lay down and he just wouln't cooperate. so one day I got frustrated and shoved him over with a bit too much force and ended the training session since its never good to train while pissed off.

the next day I said " down" and he flung himself side ways like he had just been shoved, and he layed on his side wagging his tail... after a few training sessions with treats I changed "down" to "BANG".

to this day if you have a treat and say "bang!" he flings him self to the ground like he had just been hit by a car.

I had taught my Dad's black lab to crawl, I also taught her to roll over.  Eventually I could get her to low crawl to me with a couple combat rolls mixed in.

I have a border collie mix, when she was a puppy i would say "ATTACK!" and she would run over and start chewing on my wifes older dog.  My wife wasnt too happy about it, so I had to stop with that trick.  Now we have a young German Shepherd when you say "outside" she attacks my border collie...my wife says it serves me right for teaching my dog "ATTACK!"

We had a small dog when I was growing up that my mom taught to ring a bell when she needed to go outside, we hung a bell from the doorhandle and she would go over and flick it with her paw. I got really good at opening the door and swinging that bell out away from the door and quickly grabing the string before it would make a peep on those nights i wasnt supposed to be out (highschool days)...

My Rottweilers did a "bang you're dead" trick. I'd point my finger at them and before the bang was done they were on their backs waiting for a treat.

I had a buddy with a beautiful black lab in Wasilla that his wife won stuff with in field trials in Alaska and Canada that he'd trained to do this.  He'd say what does (her name) do when the boys come over for the night, and the lab would roll over on her back and lay there!!!! His wife was furious with she found out what he'd done with her dog. He said all it took was some cheese and a couple of strips of bacon and about 30 minutes of rewarding.

Funniest damn thing ever.. Buddies lab will run over and hump whatever legs pointed at when told to "hit that $h!t".

Another buddy has a dog that when told "fix supper" will open the basement door, run down and grab a can of dog chow and place it in her bowl.. She also gets beer, does the bang thing, and will put her nose in the corner....

My dogs best trick... Tripping me in the middle of the night... Wife musta taught em that...
