Next morning, Friday EARLY Morning went scouting first Canyon spend 15 miles again No Cut that I know Big tom is hanging out here in this Canyon. So I went other side 2nd place.  Dang TWO biologlist. In this Picture has three trucks but Two Biologlist, and Other Truck is just Snowmobile for fun.

Oka I see they dont have dogs with them yet. So I load and haul over there.

Less 3 miles saw them standing and I arrival there. I said hello how ya doing. They said yea was this your truck parking front of our. I said No not mine. I just arrival.  He said any luck with Cougar. I said I found big tom from other side of Mountain and I spend whole day look for this one yesterday and the reason I am here looking for him. He show me this track just FRESH CUT!  :yike:  FINALLY I knew I would find fresher cut right there! I asked him Do you have Permit to kill. They said no we are biologlist and were here for Collaring. I asked him, I would like to hunt him. He said No you can hunt him tomorrow. You can go other place and come back Tomorrow. I said  Do you have dogs?  He said I am going back get dogs.  I said I have dogs. WHO EVER TURN LOOSE FIRST get Cat. He step to me said GET OUT! I said  wait min...say what.. are you telling me to get out.   We have special permit tags to hunt here! Give me chance to  kill Met QUOTA!

Thats why WDFW give Permits to reduce overpopulation Cougars. I am afraid WDFW will redraw more permits to other houndmen because not enough houndmen willing to KILL to meet quota. I dont get PAID for hunting Cougar. I spend hundreds dollars Can I turn loose on this Tom Cougar,

He YELL AT ME! I am deaf WHOA!!! Are you crazy..  Well I am not trying to be RUDE!    Biologlist SUPPOSED to support HOUNDMEN! But they get paid everytime they go. Free Truck, Free Clothes, Paid 300 to 350.00 per day. They get to play all year around.  Give us houndsman a break. We wait all year, every year to hope to get special draw, now's my chance! I take vacation time from work to go, i spend alot on gas, tags, dog food, vet bills etc etc etc.  All this for a perfect chance like this day.  Fresh cut, tom cat!! Damn it!  You have no idea how angry they get when I pull hounds out of Trailer. they look like going to BEAT Me UP!

For Example.

two hunters....  One hunter saw a NICE BUCK and no Rifle!  Other hunter saw too..  but He have rifle.  So who going first.  RIFLE HUNTER! and Other hunter with no RIfle cant COMPLAINT about it.

Thats exactly  what I am trying to give him a POINT. TURN LOOSE who ever got dogs on first to TAG IT!

So they got VERY ANGRY with me.They Radio'd for back up. So I said forget it and I left them alone. Head out to other, I was very upset.  I spent two Tanks of Gas on Snow mobile all day for nothing. I would have filled Tag if Biologlist would allow me. but They REFUSED! So How can I have my OWN TIME to help WDFW to reduce Quota if Biologlist is taking over the mountain with their fun time.

I lost my damn oppourity to hunt my nice TOM!  I believe TOM will not be around here since Tom will Travel stright over mountains I dont know where he heading to.

So after getting dark. Head back to Family Ranch. I was very upset and try to cool myself off.  Later Local Gamewarden found us and talked about it. Two local Gammie agreed this I am FULL 100 percent allowed to throw hounds on it. But we abort it because I dont know how Gamewarden can be VERY BAD MOOD or good mood or on their Biologlist SIDE or against me or who knows I afraid to get anything Ticket. I HATE tickets.. I am just trying to do my own thing, not cause any problems.

So Local Warden told them to NOT Collar any Cougar when Houndmen are around.  So Officer said VERY SORRY about this. Its wrong.

I would have Treed two Cougars in two days! Dang..  Oh well. Gotta try next day.  what a waste my day for nothing.

Great photo's and stories Mulehunter!   A  shame that you were treated that way by the biologists, total B.S.!  How are they collaring cats with out dogs?

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me (Bios, using their "authority" to tell a houndman not to hunt a cat, so they can get paid for it).  I think maybe WDFW should get a formal complaint... :dunno:

I am with you on this one Mulehunter!!  Unbelieveable!  Having owned hounds in the past and knowing the costs and time associated with them, I can see your frustration.  This state has done nothing for the houndsmen and am still surprised that guy's are going and tracking cats for them.

Man this pisses me off,  I find myself getting more mad by the second as I read about these biologists dicking up your hunt.  I can guarantee you one thing, you are WAY more patient that I would be.  I'd tell those guys to take a flying #$*& at a rolling donut and I'd go chase that cat.  I'd get their names, take down vehicle info, etc.  If the puddknockers started yelling at me like that, or got aggressive... (I refuse to complete my sentence on the grounds that it may incriminate me).

Hang in the Mulehunter, we're all pulling for you.  I'd offer to ride "shotgun" for you, but I'm way too out of shape for a lion hunt.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

They get paid big bucks to do what they love I guess.  I'd like to see why we are tracking all these cats.   The one cat killed behind gate was collared I guess.  Last year or year before when they did this big collar project.  They got to run their sleds all over a no snowmobiling zone in the winter range.

It pisses me off they took advantage of you.   Now I'm mad I didn't go with you.  I'd be in jail but at least you'd have had someone to yell for you.
