first trip out for elk in WA.. no elk, but need recommend. on raingear..

made my first trip last weekend down to 520, even went over and stomped around 672 before I went home. i found a cool shed antler, about 36" 5 pt, and found tons of sign, but no elk. My only question is on recommendations for raingear-as well my old issue Gore-tex works, its not quiet.

Hard to beat Helly Hanson for raingear, but wool is much quieter and will keep your warm when wet

My husband and I use Cabela's Dry Plus Silent Suede for our raingear choice.  It comes in both insulated and uninsulated.  Made elk season this year comfortable for us.

Helly Hansen is light, flexible, and half-way quiet. Good stuff from what I've seen. I use Marmot Precip though. Good stuff too.

dry plus or gore tex fan,Im in the rain a lot...when I worked const grundens all the way...you will get what you pay for.the older I get the more comfortable I like to be...

Rivers west is great gear.  My buddies call it "Rivers Sweat" it can get a lil warm if your hiking a lot when its not that cold out

I love my Grunden's for fishing and working outside, but it was pretty dang noisy for hunting. When it was not raining too bad, I just went with surplus wool pants and fleece, and packed the rain gear just in case it got really, really wet. Still looking for a better option for next year.

I bought some cabelas Dry Plus on the recomendation from a few on this site,didn't rain much on us for the late elk hunt but the brush was awfully soaking wet . The combination of the Dry Plus and Irish Setter neoprene boots set me up well with absolutely no issues of wetness or leakage. Be prepared to spend a bit of $$ don't skimp caus ya get what ya pay for

I ponied up about three seasons ago and bought some Dry Plus from Cabelas and it has been great. It has lasted me 3 seasons, is quiet, wasnt the most expensive and waterPROOF.

I also wear wool when its not a complete downpour.
