calling bobcats
« on: December 18, 2010, 09:28:59 PM »
went up yesterday with a buddy quadding in Capitol Forest (yes it was cold!) and cut some fresh bobcat tracks in the snow....has anyone ever specifically targeted them calling?? or is it just a matter of calling and see what comes in ??  would like to give it a whirl as I've treed a couple back in the day running hounds but would like to try to call one in... the tracks we saw were on the edge of some reprod and don't know if that type of terrain would be condusive to calling...shotgun maybe if you saw it...just wondering if anyone has had any success targeting cats in timber....Thanks !

Myself personally I use to get allot of them but that was in Maine. I use to get them to come in with my buddies fox pro. he had a couple different sounds on  there. One was a mating call and once I remember the others I will PM you. He is pretty good at smoken em, if ya want I can email him and ask?

Yea Tweekerville is right. When I bought my foxpro at Cabellas it turned out they were having a calling seminar. I stuck around and started talking to the guy giving it. He said he had got 8 bobcats the previous year. When I told him I hung out on hancock property and mentioned clay city all of a sudden the info he gave wasn't quite as clear any more. I have signed in at Kapowsin before then parked by a gate on clay city road and walked in, but like you say I was too afraid for my truck and left.
