Fletching help

Has anyone else used the EZFletch?  I bought the mini model that puts a max helical on a 2" vane.  I am having problems with vanes popping off when the arrow hits the target.    It is not all of the vanes or one color vane in particular or on all of my arrows, there is no consistency.  I am using Bohning tite fletch adhesive on carbon arrows.  I don't think it is too little glue because i have glue coming out from under the vane when I am done.  Could I be seating the vanes too tightly? I really like the way my broadheads are flying with the new setup and want to figure out why the vanes are popping off.

What glues do you use?

I know I probably should have bought a different fletching tool but I got a really good deal on this one so I would like to figure out how to make it work.

Try light sanding to rough up the surface of the arrow a bit (not too much!) before gluing the vanes on. Use denatured alcohol to clean the surface of the arrow prior to attaching the vanes. I've used the same fletching tool and glue using Blazer vanes on carbon arrows and haven't had the problem you mention. Too much glue may also be part of the problem.

Go with wraps underneath. Vanes stick way better to wraps than bare shafts. If you don't wanna do that then lightly rough upthe shaft and clean with alcohol. The ezfletch is the bomb. It slams arrows out. It will be my next jig. As far as glue goat tuff is the best I have used.

Oh and don't clean the base of the vane. There is an accelerant on them

+1 on the wraps, although they can be a bit of a pain if you need to change the vanes.

Either wraps or rough up the surface of the arrow.

I've used Goat Tuff and the Bohning glue and both have worked fine.  You might be using too much glue - I was kind of thinking that when you said you saw it extruding (depends on how much - a little is ok.)  I also but a little tiny bead of glue at the front and back of the fletching once it's on.

always wrap your shaft i love wraps! they make your arrow more visible in flight. And most times a little easier to find after the shot. I like both goat tuff and goldtip glue.

I agree with halflife65. use goat tuff. Rough up the surface and put little beads of glue at the ends of the fletch.

Thanks guys. I will try roughing up the surface lightly and use less glue.  I was going off the directions and it said nothing about scuffing the surface of the arrow
