My son's fishing season thus far.
« on: December 15, 2010, 11:17:14 PM »
My youngest son, Skylor, has three passions in his young life right now. Wrestling, baseball, and FISHING! (He's still a little too young to add girls to the list...LOL)

This year we set out to see how many different species of fish we could catch in the region around Clarkston. When we started this venture I figured he'd get 5 or 6 of them but he really fished his rear end off and thus far has 12 different species landed! Heck, I only have 15 so he's keeping up with me, that's for sure.

Here's pics of one of each species that he's landed thus far (I can only post 8 pics but I'll list them all below). As a 7 year old he really impressed me. He caught each of them ON HIS OWN! By that I mean he baited his own hooks, set the hook himself, and landed every one of these fish all by himself. Even the BIG Smallmouth and the even bigger Mirror Carp!!!!! You couldn't wipe the smile off of his face for days after landing those two!

Pics:
1) Mirror Carp
2) Smallmouth Bass
3) Rainbow
4) Yellow Bullhead
5) Bluegill
6) Chislemouth
7) Largemouth Bass
8) Yellow Perch
Not Shown:
9) Squawfish (Northern Pikeminnow)
10) Brown Bullhead
11) Rock Bass
12) Pumpkinseed Sunfish

Yea, my youngest daughter was getting a bit upset cause Skylor was catching all the Bluegill. No worries though....Josie turned in on later on and caught more than her fair share before the day was out.

That is absolutely awesome...

Keep him interested, and participating.  Two things that really build character, wrestling, and fishing.  Wait till he gets his first salmon, steelhead or sturgeon..  :chuckle: :chuckle:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

You are doing a great job, dad!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
