Make sure you take into account how far you need to pack one in and if you will leave it up or take it down each time. This could change the type of stand you want to get.
i have a very light weight fixed stand that has back pack straps so it is nice if i want to pack it back in a ways and i just purchased a 16' ladder stand that i relized i needed some help getting it set up to the tree and straped but now that its up i like it a lot.

I don't know, what's the difference, what's the safest, and I hunt alone so something I can set up by myself

Hang on stands are too much work in my opinion. But then I never had anybody show me the proper way to hang one in a tree. I sold the one I had and bought a climbing stand. I would like to get a ladder stand also. I think they would be great in certain situations. You'd want to have a spot where you felt safe leaving it set up for an extended period of time, because they are heavy and in most cases probably take two people to set them up.

I never have had an issue setting up a stand on different type of trees but i have been told that when using a climber they only work on certain size trees but since i don't have one or have never used one i don't have first hand knowledge.

Here's one guys perspective, it's not as bad as the Dodge, Ford and Chevy discussion, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes about which style of treestand they use.
Ladder stands for me, comfortable, stable easy to put up. Heavy and a pain in the ass to move anywhere very far. Once set up folks tend to over hunt them because they are a pain to move around. I don't use or like them for those reasons.
Climbers, I hate them.
Heavy, noisey, unstable to me, always waiting for the sudden and quick ride to the bottom of the tree. Had the bottom platform slip off my feet this year while in MO hunting. I was 20 feet up and the bottom dropped 6 feet!
That was not fun.
Lock on stands: LOVE them! Lite weight, quiet to put up, stable. Cons, you have to have strap on or screw in steps. I try and have 15 or 20 stand sites ready by the end of Aug, then hunt only when the wind is right and I do not over hunt a stand. But if I'm scouting and find a good spot it doesn't take much to put a stand in. I used the strap on steps for the first time this year and really liked them.

I have two hang on stands and really like them. They're light and really stable. I currently use screw in steps and those are kind of a pain. Next year I'm going to use the ladder steps. Those look super easy and will cut down on time. But to be honest once you hang a few stands then it doesn't take too long. I would recommend that you practise a few times during the summer.
