I changed my strategy after watching this video on hunting coyote in the east.  Instead of trying to call them out into a clearcut I go just inside the heavy cover and find a spot where there is some kind of opening or at least some shooting lanes.  I have called in a lot of dogs and cats doing this but havnt had much luck actually getting shots at them.  I am still working on it though.

If you cant see them you cant shoot them , Elevation------ or like Kain said small shooting lanes inside covered areas .I use this tactic a lot in heavy sage .
coyotes that have cover available will never expose themselves to a open area if they see no reason , the only other alternative you have would be a decoy to draw them out to open ground .
a lot of guys use a ladder for elevation , but i suggest you practice with it before using it in the field , it can be dangerous.

I see dung all the time around here.Heck I saw a yearling calf chasing a yote by the hiway the other day.So there is plenty of yotes right in town.

I don't see the actual dogs, just the sign. That need a little more sleuth.
