the last thing this state needs is more damn licenses. I'll shed hunt all I want where I'm at. Just try and stop me. Found one today already.

Only 1, hell I have gotten 17 so far on my way to 300 this year. :) On a serious note thoe, I love getting out and hiking expecially with my dog, it awsome to see him work. I also love to share and post pics of the ATL's if that makes a few of you unhappy so be it. The pics do get more folks wanting to go out and try, but that is going to happen anyways and cool beans let others enjoy what I enjoy As far as a season goes, that wont help anything.

But dont worry I will not be out in the feild as much as usuall next year because this year I will be graduating from school and then next year we will be off to another state to start over.

I will just reiterate that I have nothing against dog out in the field with their owners. I only have problems with dogs out unsupervised chasing deer.

I am a contractor, winter is always slow around here. We like it that way. Not working. Not collecting unemployment. Not harrasing Wildlife. Finding sheds! Yes, it will be hard to beat me to the piles of antlers that await me in the upcoming months.

I'd like to give a serious warning to all who speak of shooting dogs chasing deer. I have had this problem while hunting my own land. I shot a dog chasing deer on my very own property in 2006. The dog and owner were trespassing. I still got in serious trouble. I was charged with 1st degree animal cruelty, a felony charge in superior court. I got convicted of 2nd degree animal cruelty. At least that was a mistameaner. Also cost me about $7,000 for lawyer and fines. Plus I lost hunting rights for two years. It was bulls**t, but apperantly against the law. I'm finally off probation and got my right to hunt restored, but trust me you dont want to find yourself in my situation. Call animal control authorities is all I could recommend. On a lighter note I have already picked up 12 fresh whitetail sheds this season!

If anyone shoots another one of my dogs they will be getting a very real beating.  I had a hound killed (shot in the guts with a 22 and died next day) by a neighbor kid.  Of course the first thing he said was that she was chasing deer... only later did I find out from the cousin (who was there) that it was a BS story. She was not chasing anything, just out sniffing around.

Maybe I'm just sensitive about it, but I would not recommend shooting any dogs.

That's exactly right HardCorps- the law says you can shoot dogs chasing or harassing livestock, not wildlife.  I hate an untrained dog as much as the next guy, but shooting them is not the right thing to do.

Sorry to hear about your bullsh*t loss, but in most cases with those of us that are in the field all the time, killing them IS the right thing to do.

I disagree.  I'm in the field all the time and I have seen deer being chased by dogs.  It sucks that the owners don't break their dogs to deer, but that's life...and lots of things suck in life that we have to deal with.  My rationale to the whole wildlife harassment by dogs argument has to do with my hunting dogs (bird dogs and hounds) that chase wildlife and harass them for a job.  What's to stop some d-bag from shooting my hounds off a tree with a lion or a coon in it?  I like my dogs, I try to keep them straight, but even with proper training and shock collars ect. dogs will sometimes trash on game.  If someone shot my dog (no matter what it was chasing (excluding livestock)) they would have a fight on their hands right then and there.   :twocents:
