When did it change?
« on: December 29, 2010, 08:23:23 PM »
After fourteen years of me being the one setting up the hunts and coaching my son he's now started wearing my shoes. My shoes!! He planned and set up our wilderness back pack muley hunt in eastern Oregon this past fall. He's suggesting to me where to find our elk....and he's the one who told me to calm down after missing a seemingly easy shot and missing my elk after days on end trying to find one. And, following his advise and keeping me confidant we'd get on the herd again only to have him be the one whispering in my ear...wait for it to turn broadside dad and squeeze..... I actually had the hand jitters while I notched my tag. And maybe a watery eye. I think I raised a hunter.
Can't we all just get along?

LOL! I to find myself in this situation but reversed I do all hunting for my fathers critters, I think we both like it this way! I can imagine how proud this makes him to sit back and see what I have turned into! As you probably do. Sounds like you have a great boy I wish for many more moments in and out of the field together  :brew:

Dad actually said the same thing to me a couple of years back. we were driving up to BC for a moose hunt and he says out of the blue " There was a time I took you hunting and now you are taking me". I didn't know what to say, I guess everything comes full circle.
