I've got 10x42 Nikon's and will work as good as those $1000 ones. Don't get sucked into the BS. I can see as good as any of those. You only use them a few times a year anyhow. It's all hype. I looked into some $2000 Leicas this weekend and didn't see a $ 1800 difference.

I couldnt disagree more........

Each to his own, but you must have $ 2000 to spend on binoculars.

so your saying they arent that good simply because you dont?

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

Never wanted $2000  binos. If I did, I'd have them. I'd rather buy 3 handguns.

heck, probably squeeze 4 of em out for that price lol.

I'm almost with you on what it's worth to your bank account, i think that the real idea of "need" comes out of not wanting to miss an oppourtunity. Like an OIL tag. A little lackluster performance from your glass might be the difference between that patch of fur catching your eye or not.  :twocents:

to say that there isnt a difference is foolish, especially without putting them side by side in the feild. ofcourse i havent hunted with but a few of you so i dunno which of you has, but I have.

I looked through Leicas last weekend and honestly didn't see a whole lotta difference. Alot of it is paying for the name and warrenty. I just think that's too much money for binos. Now if you need them for work, maybe I would buy a pair, maybe.

A couple years ago I decided I was going to buy a serious set of binos. I had $1500 in my pocket and I was set on spending all of it if I had to.

Over the course of a few days I looked at numerous high end sets and try as I might,I couldn't see a $1200+ difference over the Nikon Monarch ATBs I bought, and the Swarovskis, and Leicas I was comparing them to.

Thats not because I talked myself out of them because I didn't have the money, thats because WITH MY EYES I honestly couldn't see much difference. Like I said,I was fully prepared to drop all the coin I had on some binos.
