Finally got some reloading done!
« on: January 03, 2011, 05:23:24 PM »
Well i spent some time yesterday and today, getting some reloading done. Got to break in the new rcbs chargemaster, that i got for xmas. That thing is sweet!!! It does really good with the fine powder. Like the h335 i used for the 223's, throwing all perfect loads but 1 that was over by .1grains. The bigger powder i used in the 338wm was h4831sc did good as well. I think i ended up with around 140 rds of 223's, with 30 of them being for my contender. I use nosler btips in them. The others rds are using sierra's. I also got 12 rds loaded for the 338wm. They are with the 225g accubond. The only thing i don't like, is that the accubonds are so dang long. I would like to have the oal a little longer. The book says 3.430" and the max my mag will hold is 3.385" so that's what they are set at. We will see how they shoot. I moved everything into the house but my press. Because my garage is cold as heck :chuckle:

 Sweet setup! So the chargemaster gets your seal of approval? I've been eyeing it for a few months now but could never justify spending so much. May have to if its that precise

What grain bullets are you using for the 223?
Theres plenty of room for all of gods animals.... right next to the mashed potatoes!

I spent some time this holiday season to pour some lead into my Lyman 452460 double gang mold for some 200gn SWC'rs. I lubed and resized them in a Star lube/sizer press then loaded a few hundred of them as target loads for this year's Bullseye season. The target loads of my lead pours weigh within 1grn of each other. (many are much closer than that, but that's my tollerance for accuracy from a 5" barreled pistol for a target at 50yds.) I also sorted and sized more than 2000rds of 45acp brass. I primed 500 or so. Loading happened on a Dillon 450.

Beagledod: ROFLOL that was funny as heck! I did catch crap from the wife for taking over the kitchen table :chuckle: But if you note my 338 on the table. I had to see what the recoil was going to be like with the new loads. Its a pretty new gun to me and the first time i have reloaded for it. So wanted to see how much snort it had. Not to bad with the 71gr of h4831sc. So thats why the muffs are there  :chuckle:

BlackRidge: Yes, seal of approval earned! I had a post asking about them, awhile ago. I wanted to see what people thought of them because my wife wanted to get one for me for xmas. Everyone gave the thumbs up, so i decided to give it a try. I really like it a lot. It will be really handy when i have it on my bench and can seat bullets why it throws the next charge. But it was to dang cold out there to be doing all the stuff in the garage :chuckle: The contender loads are with 50gr btips, and the seirras are 52g hpbt.

JackOfAllTrades: Those dillons are sweet! I always drool when i get the catelogs. Not to mention all the dillion aero mini gun stuff  I know you burn threw some 45's :chuckle:

My Dillon 450 is the oldest of the semi-progressive blue machines. It does not auto index like the newer progressives of Hornady/RCBS/Dillon I love it, but a 650 or 1050 would be sweet.

Yes, I'll run through thousands of 45acp this year.

I you ever go to Mariner's Spring Training.. Scottsdale is a short drive. Go to the Dillon facility and ask for a tour. Amazing!

They sell toys right there at the manufacturing facility too.  Don't forget the credit card!

It takes a little more than a Federal Firearms License to get one!

You got that right! I have a buddy up in Seattle area. We might have to take a little drive now that you mention it  :chuckle: A little blue on my reloading bench might go nice with all the green. :chuckle:
