coyote hunting

I have moved back to the area near Tricities. I am interested in coyote hunting but have never hunted the small game. I have a 7mm, all I have left after my move. Is this way to big to hunt with? I am interested in the competition hunts and have shot this gun at 300 yards at the range and pretty accurate. Newbie to this stuff so what is your opinion.

Go get a call and have some fun. 7mm is fine for now. find out if you like it and then get a different caliber. Of course if you have the money- new guns are always nice. good luck

A friend of mine shot a coyote with his .458 SOCOM.  Said there wasn't much left to look at, but it sure was fun!

Welcome back. Lots o dogs over there in that area, you should be able to get on them pretty quick with a little bit of gear and a little bit of practice. Good luck man!

I started with a 338 win to hint them and had good luck but there was no way to save hides. Like the others said use what u got and get a coyote cal later.

You're all set, especially the accurate-at-long-range part.  Your 7mm (Rem mag, I assume) will buck crosswinds at range much better than the so-called 'varmit' cartridges.

Reminds me of an old saying:  "Never screw with a guy that owns only one rifle."  The implication being that he's so good with it he doesn't need anything else.

12 gauge puts a nice size hole with a slug

Sorry, no pics.  I didn't see it myself, but he said there was a head, a strip of fur, and a tail.  Everything else was....gone!

Just watch whats behind the target with that beast.
      A little yoddle dog won't have enough mass to even open up most deer bullets, and that bad boy will just keep going.....and going......and going.
