Don't ja just Hate it when.....
« on: January 09, 2011, 03:44:47 PM »
You get up from your set, and find fresh tracks of an animal coming in, then suddenly it veers off and takes off at a dead run?

Never even seen the darn beastie! Sure as hale looks like it saw me!
Thank goodness I had me snow shoes on. There was from 24" of snow to 30" in the shady spots. Made the big "circle" but that thin crust on the surface just notified everything in the area-"HERE I AM!!!"

Still was fun, and enjoyed the cold clear morning air.

Did scare up one monster of a moose though. Was walking along, heard what I thought was somebody else on snow-shoes out there, so I stopped to listen, and then I saw it.

Guess I should have sat a bit longer when all the ravens that were circling started diving into the woods too my right, up the hill a bit, but in the deep dark notch of a valley. Found fresh dog tracks coming from there....

Yeah, the first time I put out my Foxpro Jack-in-the Box on a set, I sat just out of sight of it.  After not seeing a thing, I went back to pick up the decoy and saw fresh coyote tracks leading up to within 10 feet of it, and making a U-turn and leaving in the same direction it came.  Lesson learned:  Don't put the decoy where you can't see it!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

That's funny.   :chuckle:  It just shows that we learn something new every day.

Ahh!  That would be tip #2 from a piece Jerry Malbeck wrote on behalf of the Foxpro crew. http://www.californiavarmintcallers.com/FoxPro.htm
