Blue and Park lake opener this weekend
« on: April 22, 2008, 04:04:00 PM »
I always wondered why Blue and Park lake have always been so dang popular for all the west siders to drive so far over to catch a couple of 12" trout. Especially when they stock so many lakes on the west side too.  :dunno:

I haven't fished there in some time, but the smaller fish we caught there were 12", I'd say average later in the year was more like 14-15", with some over 20", my largest was 23". very good fishing lake, Lenore is another one I really enjoyed fishing.

The water is generally calm, plenty of action to keep the kids busy, and sometimes you just want to get away from town. The closer you stay to home the more the kids are distracted, its good to get them away and see other parts of the state.

A guy could make a killing if he had a Starbucks up there opening weekend.  Too many people, you could find more peace and quite at walmart.

LOL, I don't know what the hell happened when you guys were last there but it really isn't that bad. My boat is a little large for the lake but even I don't have any problem trolling around or feeling crowded.

I am not leaving until tomorrow Bone and the kids and I rough it anyway, we stay at the Banks Lake Motel. :chuckle: Eat lunch at Big Wally's and launch the boat each morning.

i ithink it's a hell of a lot worse if you are stuck to fishing from shore there...no way, not me. i stay home for the opener.

The shore did look like elk season in the Clockum or the Nile.   Couple big groups, but they are there every year.   Its a nice neighborhood and the winds aren't supposed to be bad this weekend and its supposed to hit 70, so I don't think you can ask for anything better.   A boat would be a seriious advantage.

By the looks of all the fancy lifted up superduties with $25,000 campers and $40,000 boats cruising through Ephrata today I'd say the population of King Co. was cut in half and the population of Grant Co. was quadrupled. :chuckle:

One reason Blue is popular, my wife caught this nice  6 lb 26"  rainbow while polishing her toe nails in the bow of the boat. Great fishing on Blue Lake if you can get passed the PWCs and skiers.

One more reason Blue is popular for us Rust (west) siders, is Coulee Lodge resort has great prices, I can get there from Puyallup in three hours, and a little desert goes along way to people that live in rain 250ish days a year, LOL.
We try to go the last weekend of the season. Most of the big crowds are gone. the fishing is still great.
