Found a great spice store
« on: January 12, 2011, 07:24:35 PM »
Been having a hard time finding a hi country bbb kit around spokane and dogtuk found this store for me.  Had time to swing by today and take a look.  For me it was like the cabelas of smoking.  You can smell everything when you get out of the truck.  Anyway, ended up with a package of jalapeno snack stick spice/cure, 25lb kit for ham/bacon, enough casings for the 10lbs of snack sticks and a lb of hi temp jalapeno cheese for $26.  They sell grinders, smokers, hard to find wood chips, elk meat apparently and hold classes on how to use all.
I've just scratched the surface of this place and haven't tried any of it yet but I'm happy so far.  Will be trying throwing the pork in for cure tomorrow and of course will post how that turns out.  Going to try the new sticks this weekend so I can use the new grinder.

I just did a quick search
Looks like all the spices over there are "tea" flavored :chuckle:

a good all around spice store (not much in the way of sausage or jerky stuff however) is penzeys.com
I order from them all the time. good way to stock up on some things and really good products. Check out their recipe page.
I really like the BBQ 3000 for ribs and such.

Holy cow Quad, just checked that site and their bulk spice prices are unbelievable.  Looks like they got a store in Seattle, will have to check it out.

I've been buying from them for years, especially when we butcher hogs, all the breakfast seasonings, summer sausage etc. They make a great German sausage especially when you mix in the Jalapeno cheese before you case it.
