Camera Cleaning?

I would like everyone's opinion on the best full DSLR cleaning system(s).

I know there are deeper internal things to clean and let only a professional do but I am confident in my abilities to clean what I can easily access.

So what do you use and how do you like the results of such?

Just so you think you are being ignored, most of us camera owners don't attempt to do any deep cleaning of our cameras. I personally feel that is a job for a Professional.

I've been in photography off and on for over 30 years now and I have never had to send a camera in for deep cleaning. I just try to protect my camera the best I can from the elements.

My Canon 40D has a built in sensor cleaner that comes on when I power it up and when I turn it off. So far that is all the cleaning I have needed. Outside of carefully cleaning the lens when I accidentally put a finger print on it.

I thank you for the response and I wasn't feeling ignored  as I knew it would be a tougher question to ask. My main concerns are that I have a Nikon D40 and it does not have the sensor cleaning such as yours does and living where I do in Malott WA there are no close places to do the cleaning and the ones I have contacted are very expensive. I also take very good care of my camera and have had it for almost two years now and this is the first time I have ever had it do this.

My biggest concern is I have spots on my photos even after blowing out the body with one of those baby bulbs which even Nikon recommends to remove particles. So my next solution is to clean it. I have a very steady hand and as I said am confident in using a cleaning kit. What was recommended to me was Sensors Swabs and Eclipse.

If someone has information on something else to do I am all for it.

I have a Nikon D60. I would send it in to have cleaned. Find a place in Wenatchee, Seattle or Spokane and send it off. You never know, you might be sorry if you try it yourself. Call Huppins in Spokane.

Cleaning is not that hard, but you want PEC pads on the swabs and the cleaner. I have and use products from this site: http://www.copperhillimages.com/index.php?pr=Copper_Hill_Products
Also they have instructions on using their swabs and products. Make sure of two things, 1 your battery needs to be charged fully, 2. if you have the AC power plug for your specific camera use it too. If you loose power your camera curtain will close and you cold do some damage. With that said my D70 and two D200 Nikon's have never been an issue with cleaning and the battery.

JKEEN33 I was quoted $105 in Wenatchee which is the closest place to me for such work and as that might not seem like much to most to me its enormous. Also the reason I believe I got more dust on it was because as I changed lenses a slight breeze came up and I didn't think at the time there was much dust in it but a lot of dust you cant see so it happened.

mossy8352 thanks for the link I will look into the PEC pads and I always make sure my battery is fully charged ( and plugged in when possible) before I attempt to even blow it out, but thank you for the advice on it.

CAMPMEAT I will call Huppins and a couple places in Spokane as we are going there next month.
