Beaver Ponds?
« on: January 23, 2011, 05:39:46 PM »
I have a lot of beaver ponds in my area, (Granite Falls), and I was curious if anyone has ever hunted beaver ponds for ducks and geese.  The ponds really aren't that big, probably 80' Diameter +/-.  Please, let me know what you think and thanks in advance.

I shot a few woodies off of some beaver ponds today. Not in your area though. You might give them a try if you like jump shooting.

I'd be more interested in Bobcats, they love beaver.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

The areas are a bit tight, but I think I should be able to get a shot off.  Never have seen a bobcat up there, but I'm sure they're around.

I used to hunt beaver ponds all the time.  Had lots of great shoots on them.  Always fun for jump shooting.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Only thing to warn you about is that there will always be some deep holes that the beavers have dug out.  Be ready to take a swim or have a sharp stick that punctures your waders when hunting beaver ponds.  I have gone over my head a few time over the years.

Yeah they are a pain to get around, the ones I was hunting were really deep.

Oh yeah, I've fished beaver ponds since I was a kid and it wouldn't be the first time I've taken a swim. :chuckle:
