710 is kinda a POS... I was refering to the newer/updated model.  Just didn't know it off the top of my head.

You're probably thinking of the 770.

I like the Savage, but the new Marlin Bolt actions are getting real good reviews.  Under $400 too.

LOL it's okay Nels, although I may occasionally praise Weatherbys, I just picked up a Remington 700 XCR. Think that speaks for itself lol.

I have the Remington model 700xcr in 270wsm and love it. The only thing I done with it is install a Wyatts single stack box magazine and adjusted the trigger. This gun is very accurate.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the rifles mentioned so far, stay away from the mossberg XTR it is a piece of @##!.  I shoot remington myself but had a buddy that was just getting into rifle hunting and money was an issue so he bought a mossberg we went on  a hunt to SD and two days in the factory scope mount came loose and then the ejector pin broke they sent him a new one after we got home but he ended up missing his first ever buck on that trip because of his rifle's failures.

I have a remington 710 7mm. I am not very impressed with the bolt action on the gun. I love everything else though. It seems that the stop for the bolt action to come out is very weak. Or its the end of the bolt action wearing away because if jack a shell out in a hurry you will actually pull the hole action out of the gun! Not a fun way to have to take a second shot at a deer or an elk! it wasnt for me anyways but I still got a 2nd shot and a kill. Sux to do though! Id def go with a 700 model or the TIKKA. The new ruger is steller as well!

Tikka is an AMAZING gun for the price!!!!!! Definitely look at them. I own a ruger m77 m2, but my brother has a tikka t3 in 300wsm and it hasn't shot any load over 1". Only downside to the tikka is the 70$ replacement magazine. The rugers are a great deal too, I love mine. Just something about walking through the woods with a 100% American rifle. I have never in 7 yrs had one jam, misfire, or shell fail to eject, and I have worked that bolt pretty quick a couple times.

Ruger is awfully hard to beat for the $$... The new Hawkeye rifles are really nice.  I'm getting one in 7mm-08 before the end of the year.  I hear a lot about the Tikka, but aren't they foreign made?  I like to keep my $$ in America if I have a choice.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

Savage or Remington 700!  I wouldn't own a Ruger if you gave it to me, but that's just personal preference.
