Talked to one of Tod's buddies Wed, Dan Agnew bought the Wa tag this year. Said they had the 7 point sheds at the auction, a little incentive, or motiveator if you will... Might be a eye opener for old Dan, as he hunts the White Mountain Indian Res annually... Probally a little tougher up here......

A friend of mine has hunted with Todd and said that his idea of a hard hunt consists if beginning and ending the day at the Marriott.  He has some great bulls but it sounds like he hasnt worked very hard for most of them.  He has a nice chunk of land in Lewis County with quite a few nice bulls on it and one hell of a "tree fort" overlooking one of his oat fields.

Those are some dandy sheds! I wouldn't mind seeing those bulls in person.

So whats the deal this guy always buys the tag from whoever gets it?
Hunting is and always will be a family tradition.
If you load it they will come.

The goveners tag is a tag put up for auction and people bid on it and the highest bidder can hunt whenever he or she wants for any elk pretty much within washington!

The tag is only the half of it.  What about the teams of guys that are hired to help locate and sit on a bull, while you sit back and drink coffee.  Now thats hunting. His money though and I am glad he can do it.  It would be nice if there were a couple of thos eguys that liked it so that the bids could go higher and even more funds would come in for our wildlife.

As much as time and money I spend on hunting each year, I would be money ahead to just buy the Governor's Tag and hire the army. :chuckle:  At least I'd kill a bull each year in a week or less, but that's not my idea of what hunting means to me.  I'd love to have the access that the tag gets you, though.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

Not that it makes any differance, Because any of those bulls are once in my life time bulls.....But just for convesation sake. I was over at a taxidermist buddy of mine ,And there happend to be three Game wardens at his place" He's doing a life size elk decoy for them" two of wich were retired one from Longview the other from Naches..The other "Ken Jount" from wallla walla. Said that bull was 440......?????But Like I said befor I would give my wife and 2 of the 4 of my kids for a shot at one of those.. :'( :'(

Draw odds are crashing daily for our state. Cat is out of the bag, Utards on Monster Muleys found out about all of our 400 inch bulls running around. I was never going to draw it anyway  :dunno:

Well just from the little info I gathered from this thread I think I might have seen this same bull 2 summers ago. Our jaws hit the floor we we saw him just standing there feeding. Can't be for sure if it is or not but it was memorable!

I don't see it having any effect on our draw odds.  Lots of things you can whine about in this state, but allowing non-resident access is not one of them.  This is the most restrictive state around for NR's.  The upfront, non-refundable NR license and tag fee and squaring of points will keep them away.  That being said, I bet the Gov. tag starts going through the roof.  But since I'm not bidding on it and the proceeds go to the state, I'm all for it!

I'm working on it.  I've got 4 pics.  Friendship is more important though, but I hope I get the OK as this bull is incredible.   I saw him 3 years ago along withthe 7x7.  They have been together since.  Two 400 inch bulls standing side by side is something to behold, especially if its NOT high fenced.

Interesting thread....Boneaddict...your last sentence sums it up.  My son and I have drawn several late whitetail buck permits in the Blues over the past years, and on one of those trips, I believe the late 90's we had the opportunity to watch two absolutely incredible bulls together for over an hour.  Snow on the ground, cold and sun out.  One was an 8X8 with a 7X7 keeping him company.  I've seen big bulls before, but how these guys packed that much head gear and what those antlers must have weighed, was mind simply blowing.
Right at the top of my hunting experiences over the years.....unfortunately did not have the camera with me that morning.....but the images are permanently inscribed on my brain.  These bulls were very similar in size to the photos of the 451 sheds....and except for the difference in points....both bulls were nearly identical.
As you said.....something to behold!
