well...i was wrong. i can't find squat. if you go to washington-oregon game and fish mag and search for it, it shows something, but i can't get the link to work.

the savage is working out great. it has a 3.5-10 scope, a tupperware stock that i painted, a harris bi-pod, and shoots great. it will likely see some action this fall. i planned to take it out after some yotes this year but that was not to be.

the youth stock has been refinished and is on a stevens .243 that belongs to the neighbor kid. he'll use it for his first deer hunt this year.

I looked for it awhile ago on MM becasuse I was looking for pics of him for a couple of our threads.  I couldn't remmber if his one side was a 5 or not.  There was a very nice non-typical that was there and thats what I thought had the gold bar name tagged onto him.  He was definately not a hoax.  I saw him a couple times fishing the Sky for chum.  He was a monster but became a little too friendly.  I figured the wdfw used it as an excuse to get a nice mount for their office as I am sure they could have trained him to be skiddish.....but.......so be it.

The one that was in the Oregon/Washington fish and game magazine taken with a bow was a mule deer. They had resended the story. The guy supposedly patterened it and shot it with a bow but if you saw the picture you could tell it was a muley.

If I remember, it was bulloney...muley horns mounted on a blacktail cape.  They gave the guys name in the article...wonder if he was from the area.   He said he had seen one even "biggger" than the one he arrowed...yah right.

Yep you remember it right. It was found to be a Blacktail cape on a mule deer taken in Chelan County. He got caught with his hand in the cokie jar.

Coastalghosts story is the same as what I remember reading in Washington Oregon fish and game.  Probably something like 8 years ago.  He supposedly shot the smaller of the two bucks.

I used to subscribe to W-O G&F and have the issue that the Gold Bar Buck article ran in. It was July 2002.  They called it a 7x7 scoring 179 1/8.  Happy to share it if somebody wants a copy or scan.
