Mt. St. Helen's Rescue Organization

To Whom It May Concern:
I am emailing you about the recent meetings regarding Mount Saint Helens National Monument becoming a National Park. According to the act that established the national parks, preventing impairment of park resources including the landscape and wildlife is the fundamental purpose.
As fellow outdoor enthusiasts I believe it is in our best interest to work together in preserving all of our outdoor recreational rights. I am sure your organization is aware that converting Mount Saint Helens into a National Park will limit, and in most cases eliminate, ALL of our recreational opportunities such as mountain biking, hiking, ATVing, snowmobiling, camping, hunting and many more activities.
I would like to inform and invite you to participate in the upcoming meetings of the Citizen's Advisory Committee, the next meeting will be held on May 15, 2008. Meeting information can be found at
http://www.skamaniacounty.org/SHAC.htm
. Additional information about the committee can also be found at their website.
As an organization Mt Saint Helen's Rescue is dedicated to helping take an active role to preserve this national forest. Let's unite to keep Mount Saint Helens a beautiful national monument that we can ALL enjoy.
If you have additional questions please do not hesitate to contact me at barnes.b@comcast.net.
Thank you,
Bruce Barnes

I met this guy Bruce last weekend in the drivethrough at burger king and he came back to my truck and gave me some info. I E-mailed him and told him about this site.He seemed like a real nice guy that really cares about keeping our mountain. I don't know how many of you guys hunt around st.Helens but I think it would behoove us to get involved.I know im gonna attend that meeting!! From what he told me it sounds like they not only want to make st helens a park but also all of giffort pinot national forrest to Mount adams! That means no elk hunting

I elk hunt down there to. It doesn't sound like this is going to be
good. Wondering how many others around me hunt down there. Sounds like we do need to go. I'm going to make my way down. If anyone one is interested in carpooling down let me know, pm me.

If you are interested in finding out more information on what our politicians are really trying to do you should check out Brian Baird's website at
http://www.house.gov/Baird/
this will help you find out what he'd like to plan up on Mt. Saint Helen's, along with Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell and Norm Dicks. They all obviously have an agenda in making it a National Park.

Now, now PolarBear lets not get in to name calling the dirty rotten bastages what we really think of their farging ideas. hahahahah
Ya, I get real tired of people thinking that hunting, fishing and all shooting sports should go the way of Neanderthal man.

Yeah, I get tired of the son of beeches too. They are nothing but a bunch of farging ice hole, city dwelling, tree hugging, bastages. I especially dislike Peppermint Patty. My Dad has gone a bunch of rounds with her and her office. He says that in the 30+ years that he was in the federal govt. he had never run into someone that was as incompetent and moronic as her. Son of beech, sheet!

This has to be about money. Monument's don't make the GOV money directly, though National Parks do. Bush had a big overhaul of the National Park system, one of the first thing's he did was jack up the entry fee's, so they would be "profitable". Sometimes it's not about money, though indirectly, a monument contributes way more to the State economy in recreation dollars spent, though that is obviously not being looked at.
