the field trials and hunt tests will start up in the Monroe Fall city areas around the end of March most the folks are down south at this time.  You can still find folks training at Bob Peppers in Carnation, or Carlson's in Fall City once the water receeds and it warms up a bit.  Entryexpress.net has all of the schedules

You do not need to be a member to participate but, I think the dues are about $10 a year. Pretty soon there will be training days for Puget Sound Lab Club, Rainier Hunting Retriever Club, Evergreen Golden Ret. Club WRC(posted)....and a few un-sanctioned events such as 10-series singles and 5 series.

Spring is always busy just before the hunt test and field trial season gets underway. Scraping all the winter moss off the dogs and/or un-doing bad habits picked up hunting.

PM me anytime if you have a free weekend and need something to do. I'll try to be more dilegent about posting events as they come up. I did it for a while but, nobody ever seemed interested so, I got lazy about it.

>Dear WRC members,
>
>We are planning a Training Day at Ft Lewis on Saturday, Feb 5, Area 14.
>
>Our idea is to have two training scenarios set up.  One would be for Master/Qual/Open level dogs; and the other would be for Jr/Sr/Derby level dogs.
>
>Our club has pigeons available for a fee.  We also have dead pigeons for the other marks.
>
>We can arrange to have paid workers for the dead bird gun stations if there are enough people to make it worthwhile; or everyone would be expected to take a turn working – just like a regular training day.  If we have paid workers, the cost of participating would increase to cover the workers.
>
>The advantage of this type of event is to simulate a real field trial or hunt test for our dogs, yet we would be able to use leads, e-collars, and heeling sticks if we choose.   There would be experienced people available to offer advice and help if you want.
>
>At the least, we will have drinks and snacks available.  At the most, we will have a barbeque going with hot dogs or burgers.
>
>If you are interested, I will need to hear back ASAP.   In order to plan a fun, effective, training day, I’ll need your comments, suggestions and how many dogs you would be bringing as well as how many flyers you would like.  You can either e-mail me back with your response or call.

They have hunt tests in Quilcene three or so times a year, it's amazing to watch those dogs and the handlers.
