Big brother will be watching
« on: January 31, 2011, 12:28:47 PM »
Don't go into any areas that are off limits for shed hunting a buddy of mine is a advanced hunter and has been going thru training to check cameras that will be mounted in off limit areas to check for shed hunters and illegal dumpers.

Yes, eyes in the woods guys put some game cams up, from what I heard they are having some probems with the legality of the whole program, its going to be a very hard to first make a case, and second convict someone on a skecty picture.

Are there signs saying no shed hunting in this area? How do you know an area is closed?
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

areas that say wintering area and give dates. Does that mean the area is closed or just off limits to vehicles that time of year. The signs I'm thinking of are around Sullivan Lake in the NE corner.

Master Hunters are required to take a class put on by Eyes in the Woods on how to report crimes. Could be that both groups are working together on this.

Actually most of these cams are remote monitored. So they could actually catch you in there...

The cameras are used there because of the problem with dirt bags going in and chasing the elk to get the antlers to fall off.  They are also used throughout the state to monitor road closures, wildlife areas, boat launches and ect.  The program is still in its infancy,

No legality issues.  Been approved and supported by WDFW enforcement and the Wa AG office.  Also will be deployed to aid private landowners who allow public access to aid in catching the dumpers, tweeker thieves, and morons who just can not follow the rules and ruin for everyone else.

Cameras are deployed by all LE agencies, and private industries, and individuals to catch dirt bags.  No legal problems.

The labor is provided by EITW members some of whom are master hunters.

The commonality is they all  care about our natural resources and public access.

They should start a reality show about it...They could call it "Antler wars".

I can see it now, everyone sitting around the table at Oak Creek, and the sensor is tripped.  They all jump up and run out to their quads, then proceed to tear up the hill towards cougar canyon.  :chuckle:
