The only whiteman in the area was my great great great great great great  great great grandpa colockum. Apparantly according to him and his diary the Yakamas and the sasquatch lived in harmony together. He distinctly mentioned one Yakama named plateau who ran a group of sasquat he's like a gang around the manastash. He ran into them while hunting and narrowly escaped with his life. He was told never to hunt there again and that there was no elk there anyways. Old man colockum knew better but didnt want to be eaten by the sasquatches led by the Yakama named Plateau. So he moved to the north side of the valley and named it the colockum. He almost starved to death due to the lack of elk and deer.
