Muzzleloader Recipes...
« on: February 03, 2011, 06:17:49 AM »
Is there a website with some load data for blackpowder?  I have a bullet I want to try, but not sure where to start on charges.

Thanks for any help!

Most bullet manufacturers have load data on their site. If it is a home brew I always start about 70-75gr and go from there.
Smoke em when ya see em!

I bought a Lyman 2nd edition blackpowder manual off of e-bay real cheap. It's a older book with all traditional rifles in it.
It has some eye opener loads and I wrote to Lyman asking if the data was still good and safe.  They said yep they stood behind the data that all the pressure figures had been retested and were accurate.  Lots of load data for all calibers.

The powder charge you use can vary depending on bullet choice, hunting conditions etc.   One of my rilfes shoots better with charges much lighter than typical, and the tendency to shoot more than 100 grains or so is not always practical.
